We get a sneak peek at Nike’s new upcoming Write the Future campaign as it puts the football stars of today in hypothetical situations in the hopes that the ads might rattle a few bones or get people excited about the intensity of World Cup action as kickoff draws nearer. The Wayne Rooney ad depicts him living out of a caravan, unable to repress an incident from his head in which he has a pass intercepted by France’s Franck Ribery on a failed cross attempt to fellow countryman Theo Walcott. Subsequently, he’s dismissed as Nike’s posterboy and drowns out his sorrows in a small trailer. The second shows Cristiano Ronaldo enjoying a “newfound” celebrity status, as he has a statue erected in his honour and as he rolls up to the red carpet to attend his own movie premiere.
