For New Balance’s 20th anniversary of their 576, the legendary running brand has captured the essence of some of their marquee 576s in their Timeless Collection. The set features sneakers from various time periods from the shoes inception in 1988, presently in 2008 and futuristic modeling representing twenty years from now in 2028. The London based Decapitator has gained his fair share of notoriety for his counter-culture exploits replacing the heads in various advertisements with a bloodied and decapitated mess. Uniqlo is the latest company to come under fire from the gory artist as a series of ads were hit.
Earlier this year saw a collaboration between Hectic x Stussy in the creation of a New Balance CM670 pack. Two new styles are set to hit later this month featuring a muted gray suede and aqua/purple highlights. The CM670 has been a most recent medium chosen by traditional collaboration partners Hectic and Stussy and could yield more of the same variety to compliment their current line of MT580s.

The latest release from the adidas Consortium series features the slim profiled Superskate Street. Despite the multitude of colors used, the sneaker is kept in check thanks largely in part to an all white upper and sole. Available now at Hangtime and should hit adidas Consortium dealers in the next little while.

Upon stumbling onto a gigantic stash of over 2,000 eyeglass designs by Simon Jablon (son of Linda Farrow), Linda Farrow Gallery was born featuring some never before seen eyewear products. The limited distribution and over the top collaborators have made Linda Farrow Vintage a highly sought after product amongst the global fashion community. Among the upcoming collaborations are one with one of contemporary mens fashion designer Raf Simons. Available soon at oki-ni.
adidas Skateboarding has dropped some new models for Spring/Summer. adidas Skateboarding has continued with nice subtle colorways without deviating too far into the realm bright and mismatched color patterns. The styles seen here include the Campus Vulc (off shoot of the cult classic Campus) and the Rister Mid. As part of the higher end adidas Skateboarding line, the models feature increased quality and cushioning. Available now at Caliroots.
There has been an enormous amount of the talk recently about the internet destroying the music business. Cynics cry foul at leaked albums a month before the official release and music being shared on P2P. However, the critics seem to be missing a whole slew of bands and artists who seem to be benefiting from the internet. Tapes ‘n Tapes, a group of four Minnesotan indie rockers stand as a shining example of how the internet can help propel a group into the consciousness of individuals who may have not otherwise have heard them before. In 2005 the blogosphere was in frenzy when they got a whiff of Tapes ‘n Tapes brand of Pavement influenced unpretentious rock. The release of their first album “The Loon” was highly praised and front man Josh Grier was seen as a gifted song writer and vocalist (despite his penchant to mumble). The success and critical acclaim of the first album allowed the band to land a record deal with XL Records and a shot at converting many more fans.
With all of their current success comes the pressure of the all important second album. “Walk it Off” takes a different direction then their first effort. Gone are all of the rough edges of the first album and replaced by a more polished sound. The drum kicks are crisper, guitar solos more cohesive and the lyrics slightly more ambiguous. But, the change is welcome as TnT takes it’s influences of Pixies, Pavement and The Beatles and makes it their own instead of what seemed to be a deadpan regurgitation of their heroes on the first album. The first single and the bizarre video from the album “Hang Them All” showcase the direction TnT is going in the future. It is a perfect combination of indie pop rock and infectious melody. Not bad for an internet band.
The safari print has been utilized on many of Nike’s new sneakers as well various ACG projects have come to fruition as of late. A new sample has emerged combing the two elements to create this Nike ACG Air Wildwoods. The sneakers will predominately use the safari print leather and suede/nubuck with a Mulberry/Black/Anthracite/Berry colorway. With its ACG technology and a scheduled release date in November; these will certainly be a good choice for winter sneakers.
