New York’s very own Opening Ceremony has offered a creative mix of different brands in their store front each season. Mostly choosing brands that satisfy their own palettes of fashion, their taste and style is exemplified by their 2008 Spring/Summer footwear collection. The elongated Chukka boot in its various materials are a definite defining piece of this collection.

Japanese brand N. Hoolywood debuted their 2008 Spring/Summer collection under the theme of “After Sputnik”. Based mostly in part by the American/Soviet race to conquer space in the latter half of the 20th century, N. Hoolywood has applied this theme to this collection of apparel. The items seen here include t-shirts, scarves and a reversible wind resistant shirt.

The North Face has long been esteemed as one of the leading purveyors of apparel against the elements. Its become a necessity amongst many who venture out into brisk cold of winter. Together with Japanese brand and shop Atmos, the two have created two styles of jackets. The lightweight Compact and the Dot Shot both include retro colorways. Available through Atmos.
Burton’s footwear brand Gravis has released a patent “Black Box” version of their Tarmac Royal model. Another reverse colorway includes a more subdued white leather flip. Both feature perforated uppers for comfort and breathability. Available through Flauge
As Upper Playground endorsed artists, Saber & David Choe touched down in the UK late last month, the two are each showing their works at respective locations. David Choe’s Murderous Heart exhibition opened up at the Lazarides Gallery in Newcastle. The sketches cover some interesting and provocative material which combined some refined looks mixed with some rudimentary styles.

The Japanese brand Sophnet. under the helm of Hirofumi Kiyonaga will be releasing a shop exclusive Patchwork Collection. Most people probably cannot pull off the patchwork look properly but if you think you can, this collection might be for you. Three different items are included in this series including a jacket, a shirt and shorts. Two colors of patchwork are available as well. As mentioned before, these are only available at the Soph. store in Japan.
In association with one of Japan’s premier dancehall acts Mighty Crown (and creators of the subsequent Nike Dunk), Nine Rulaz Line fuses some of that same dancehall mentality as well as taking bits of American culture, Japanese culture and club culture to complete their ethos. For their 5th anniversary, Nine Rulaz and Mighty Crown created a special CD accompanied by Kuumba incense and a Garni incense holder.
Alife, a New York based brand, has been considered one of the more respected streetwear brands in the industry. Because of this, Alife has had the opportunity to work with many sneaker companies including Asics. After last year’s collaboration on the Gel Lyte, they’re at it again and will be releasing this upcoming sneaker. Unfortunately no news of when they will be released.

As previously mentioned, the famous photographer Terry Richardson will have a new exhibition at the Paris boutique, Colette, in conjunction with Supreme and Kermit the Frog. Every season, Supreme surprises us with the people (or in this case, a Muppet) they work with including boxer Mike Tyson or pornstar Tera Patrick from previous seasons. This time around, Kermit the frog will be the face of Supreme with Kermit t-shirts and skate decks being released. Dedue is an online store part of the whole Zozotown network. This year marks their fourth anniversary and for the celebration they have collaborated with one of the brands they carry UNDFTD. Together, they have produced a t-shirt with a crest design. Retails on March 31 but you can order it now for 6,090 Yen at Dedue.
As a follow-up to our first part look at Brixton’s 2008 Spring Collection comes a final few pieces. Keeping very much in theme with their previous collections, Brixton has brought forth various styles which have been introduced over the years and maintained a strong sense of nostalgia and timeless design. Also new for this season are select accessories such as money clips and belts. Check for a list of retailers over at Brixton.
Created as part of the basketball comedy Semi-Pro starring Will Ferrel, Andre 3000 and Woody Harrelson, Pony produced a series of movie exclusive sneakers. Based on their iconic Top Star Mid, the Flint Tropics colorway and embossed logo can be seen applied to the shoes. Unfortunately these will unlikely be made officially for sale and released only to select people.
