Triumvir started out applying their artwork to things like sneakers. Through the boom of the sneaker customizing trend, they gained popularity. Also during that time, they also started their own brand which continues to today. Their newest project involved a new Town Bicycle t-shirt. Here is a description from their website:
“Town Bicycles. Who doesn’t know of at least one in every school, town or neighborhood? It doesn’t take one to know one and in most cases, you don’t have to go very far to find her… She’s the one the guys love for all the wrong reasons and the girls hate for all the right reasons. Her generosity nourishes and plagues her undisputable reputation. Her openhandedness or open-leg-edness in this case, insures she’s the one you can’t stop thinking about, talking about, dreaming about… fighting about. She’s not just “public transportation”, she gives you something to love, something to hate; she gives you a reason to wake up in the morning. She’s the all-pervading Town Bicycle and this one’s for her.
The original artwork we used for this tee was from a Richard Avedon photograph of Marilyn Monroe. The border came from a box of Bicycle Playing Cards.”
These tees which are apart of their Spring ‘08 collection will be available in March.
Yesterday on Valentines Day, Sotheby’s auction house hosted a Valentine’s Day (AUCTION) RED auction which sold artwork from some of the most popular artist of today to bidders that had big pockets. The Damien Hirst x Banksy painting titled “Keep it Spotless” originally estimated at $250,000 – $350,000 fetched an amazing $1,870,000 USD. Another of Hirst’s paintings called “Where There’s a Will There’s a Way” skyrocketed to $7,150,000 USD. Pretty amazing consider that the US is heading towards a recession.
