if you're looking to do a conversion, stop looking at mountain bikes and start looking for horizontal dropout road frames. most have vertical dropouts and make fugly ass conversions.

^ i can't imagine this as a fixed

Latest shot of my bike. Dat dirty bar tape.

Feb 03, 2010 @ 23:11

painted the frame white/ fork black
black water bottle holder
black origin8 pedals
some cheap metal cages/ single leather straps

dunno if i'm gonna like the metal cages over plastic cages so i'm just trying it out

Shit dude, gnarly. You okay?

My first and only (hopefully to stay that way) fixie injury:

Feb 05, 2010 @ 15:22
did you run into the car?

UCSB.

Feb 05, 2010 @ 15:39
Yeah. Some girl ran into the street right in front of me, and in a panic I swerved around her and ended up hitting the back of that car, flying through its rear windshield. I don't remember it happening, but a good friend of mine was biking with me and saw the whole thing.
Feb 05, 2010 @ 16:35
holy shit. good thing you are alright still mayne.

UCSB.

they're OK for the price. i guess if you want to make a beater or something then they're good for that. i wouldn't recommend them. not very well made, kinda creaky. tongueface i do like the carbon track fork tho.

also leader's customer service isn't very good. they gave me a deal on that frame but it wasn't really a deal. long story that i doubt anyone wants to hear.

basically i'm just upgrading every part on it so i can hopefully buy a blaphard frame this summer.

Word. I was thinking about them because of the aluminum frame, figuring it'd be a nice upgrade from my steel frame. I guess I'll wait and get somethin' nicer though.

I never wore a helmet until I got into that accident. Now it's always on me when I ride.

aluminum is not an upgrade from a steel frame. aluminum is actually a harsher ride than steel when ridden on the street; you feel the cracks and bumps in the road a lot more.

When is it coming out?
Feb 10, 2010 @ 17:15
what's everyone's gearing? i want speed and skid. 44/15?
Feb 10, 2010 @ 19:12
I use 48/18, but I'm a bit weak. Sometimes I'd like a slightly higher gearing for speed, but what I'm running now is good for accelerating and works well with my strength. Skids are easy on it too.

46/17

49/16. i wanna up it to a 50 but iono its rough in sf
Feb 11, 2010 @ 04:24
48/16. i really have to shift forward to skid without foot retention. im getting a 17t cog soon. other than more skid patches, does it make that much of a difference?
