For real, people on OT be talking about how they depressed and shit, and even when a nigga seems chill he comes out talking about how he's miserable and shit. I mean, I myself have gone thru depression, and it's on and off right now, but what about HB attracts us low-serotonin folk?

ive been thinking this too lately
i have never been depressed
and i remember there was a hb thread about suicide and so many dudes said they've contemplated suicide
then another thread where most dudes hated christmas
HB cool but maybe consists of alot of wierdos IRL(micro elliot rodgers) with the exception of a few who just like to fuck around like me

Most people on off topic are lacking in attention ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. Weather it be acceptance for their clothes, sense of humor, or just interaction. Not to mention many of the people on here are young and at that crossroad where you have to make the tough decisions that entail entering adulthood. And all of these if not catered to in real life or on line can lead to questioning one's self and purpose if your self image or emotional states are fragile. Even trolls are trolling due to a lack of something. At the end of the day everybody goes through it. Just this group uses HB as their outlet for these issues even if they don't realize it. This session was on the house next one will cost you.smile

Im sure HB has a lot of dudes with psychological "complexes" or whatever theyre called
you got short/ugly niggas trying to dress well or get money to compensate for that thing they feel lacking of
you got sad niggas trolling on here "blackbeiber" lol
many virgins, dudes with women problems, life problems, and many hb users as aforementioned have said they are depressed suicidal emo type niggas etc
seems over represented here on HB as opposed to the general public imo

Infatuations with clothing can lead to over expectations on how you perform socially.  It's hard to say you've never been depressed a single time in your life. If you take the problems that you have been having EX: not eating the same, not talking to the people you love to hang out with much, and breaking a normal routine, those are symptoms of depression, you may ignore it but it's there. You're completely right about the people on here. People tend to think that they're completely acceptable in a social environment while they're scrolling around Facebook liking post's and feel as if they're posts on the front page and in other parts of this forum contribute to a good part of society. When you get fixated on that you tend to lose touch with how your life truly is and when you also see images of people on Instagram in the typical party or "feelgood" picture you question what you have.

This can apply to ANYONE using forums daily, even me but I just came to except that life isn't exactly one long party, and you have to work socially and physically to achieve something like that. I hope some of you do get some help, medication ECT before it's too late, and symptoms and problems get worst.I let my OCD get out of control because I was afraid to admitting to the doctor my problems and it haunted me through High school and a problem that could have been fixed when I was younger may be irreversible.

I know, aside from all the gay threads on OT it's just a bunch of people complaining about life.

There was a point in my life where I just realized that I have no time to be depressed and mope around in my own sorrow cause life is too fucking short for all of that.

Maybe because those are the ones that have no social life other than HB. So they stay trapped behind their computers. You spend too much time alone you tend to think way too much and that can lead to depression.

This website, from what I have seen, is fashion oriented. With that you get people who think they are the shit. Once something happens a lot of had thoughts come in at the same time.

If they get replies on everything else they might think their voice is big, which is why they feel the need to share it here. Maybe nobody else in their tea life ever replies or listens to them, on these forums, be it BB, OFT, KTT, or here, chances are somebody will see it, and you'll get replies. That (might) make them feel good, like they actually matter to somebody.

First off, it's not just HB, it's forums in general. I don't know for sure, but here are some theories.

People who aren't comfortable in their own skin get a bit depressed that they see other people having the kind of fun they want to have so they get depressed. But they still crave social interaction and forums provide that.

Some people who seek validation but don't get it in the real world can look to the web to associate with other like minded people to find some sort of validation.  This applies to sites like tumblr, twitter, instagram as well.

People with personal burdens need to get it off their chest. Easier to come on a forum as a stranger and get it off your chest to other strangers than it is to confess to people who know you.  You can get it off your chest without the repercussions of real life judgement. So depressed people can unclog themselves on forums.

Boredom.  Forums are great time killers.  The problem that happens is that you end up spending so much time on here (or the internet in general) and you get depressed that you're not out there having real life fun.

Those are just a few things that I have observed from using forums since like 2000.  I've seen a lot.  Lotta depressed people and introverts use message boards.

This is true too.  One quality cure for depression is real life social interaction.  Getting laid is part of that. Real life laid. Not internet laid.

If my life was great and exciting I probably wouldn't spend so much time on the Internet. But I live in the wackest town in America where there isn't shit to do, so I'll just sit here and look at close I can't afford for the next 3 months before I go to college.

I've been spending the last decade browsing all sorts of message boards from bodybuilding to video games to fashion and etc...

It's almost always the same. If the demo for the forum is teenagers and people in their early to mid twenties, they're always stressing over women, anxiety, depression, how they don't get women, trolls that front like they're hot shit, angst filled teens and etc... They're also very impressionable so they're easy target for troll groups. There are people who professionally troll. They target certain forums and have bots spread some troll propaganda like jew hate, black hate, feminism and etc... And these people always fall for it.

Every message board has their own little norms and group think "facts".

Truth is no sane and happy person would ever regularly post on a message board. Happy people are having fun living life while the lowest of the low browse/post on forums.

on topic i think internet forums tend to attract people who don't have banging social lives. Like if you hang out with the homies 4 times a week and your bitch the other 3 don't really leave much time for the internet.

Ironic.

Also,  have you considered that some people are on here because they're at work and use this as a means to pass the time?
