I just met someone from the midwest who had never seen the ocean before this month.

I feel bad for people who never travelled.

Have all of you seen an ocean?

Yea shit, you could drive from Philly over the Walt Whitman into Jersey all the way to the shore.

I grew up in the Midwest and I didn't see the ocean until I was almost 20 years old. But we had Lake Michigan, and a boat, so it wasn't like we were landlocked or anything. I think a lot of people don't realize what a luxury it is to be near enough to an ocean to see it regularly. Its one of the most amazing forces of nature and has an indescribable calming affect on most people. Now I'm only a couple of hours away from it, and I only go about once or twice a year....

I've seen the atlantic and pacific ocean plenty of times, and I grew up on the east coast. I never really thought about it. I guess I take it for granted.

Midwest gang checking in. Never seen the ocean, a mountain or shit. Trees and flat land around here.

Someday I'll go surfing and put on for HB.

I guess it's what happens when you live in bumfuck, Iowa. I also know a few people from certain states (Hawaii, Louisiana, etc.) who have never seen snow. I can relate to that one a bit more. Here, in San Diego, you generally have to visit the snow if you want to see it. It usually won't show up in your yard.

I guess I was 'lucky' enough to have seen plenty of ocean, snow, miles of open land, desert, skyscrapers, mountains, etc. There seems to be a group for each one of those who hasn't seen it.

Hardly get any snow now. Nothing but patches on the mountains last winter.

Grew up in Illinois but my family took vacations to California, Florida, Hawaii, and Aruba every year. So I saw the ocean every single year. Now I live in LA and haven't seen an ocean in like 4 months.

Yeah you are in the 559 right? Don't ski or snowboard so I never go up to China Peak. I always travel to the mountains around now or the spring so I never get to see the snow. Just went to Yosemite 2 weeks ago and there were like 2 patches of 3x3 feet of some snow but that was it.
