My main synth for ableton is Sylenth and if I need more I just rewire reason.

I had taken the words out of his mouth and filled it with fart.

you can find it on thepiratebay definitely. i had it for probably 3 hours but got rid of not, but only because my laptop is trash and couldn't keep up with it. otherwise, it was an amazing vst that i wish i could still have. sad

I produce with a friend for fun. https://soundcloud.com/kopm

Favourite VSTi's have to be: KORG PolySix, I am ride or die for that plugin. Its not what I would use for my main sound but when you layer it with other instruments its makes them thicker, warmer and a breeze to mix because the sounds are so smooth. Other mentions are: Arturia CS80V & Native Instruments Razor

I guess it just depends what kinda beats you're making but, I would definitely try: http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010/09/16/free-sample-shootout-5-the-best-free-drum-machine-samples/ for some great drum machine samples or http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010/06/24/free-sample-shootout-2-acoustic-drums-full-kits/ for Acoustic kits

Sylenth is cool, it just depends on which banks you have and what type of music you're producing. There's a lot of good "rave" synths and if you want to know what I mean check out this song: https://soundcloud.com/henrygrant/the-one

yes it's a shameless plug, but jump to the minute mark to hear the lead. I rarely use sylenth for hip hop though.

for kicks/snares/hats and everything else I just use kits I've collected over the years. Also sampling my own drums and stuff.

You really can't use ableton "in" reason, but you can use them at the same time through rewiring. Then you can use any synths in either DAW and it'll work. If you need help rewiring just let me know and I can probably make a video. Or youtube some videos.
