June 14, 2012 @ 03:50:18
I'll check dude out.

"I keep myself so lifted I'm accustom to new heights."

June 14, 2012 @ 05:36:13
Listened to 1999, shit sounded like a demo. He better learn song concepts if he wants to move from the rap game into the music industry
June 14, 2012 @ 05:50:21
Your right. Daily Routine, Survival Tactics, Hardknock, Suspect, etc. didn't have song concepts. He better step it up.
June 14, 2012 @ 06:56:13

Tell me the concepts of any of those songs that you listed. Or are you just a hardcore stan.
June 14, 2012 @ 13:52:36
Go listen to Deltron if you want concepts, this was a dope tape.
June 15, 2012 @ 18:50:34
this dude's whole style sounds so old school it's gonna be real interesting to see how niggas receive this shit in the current music landscape
June 15, 2012 @ 19:15:05
he is good, definitely feeling it, but i think i hyped up the tape too much? agreed that its much more of a demo, but nothin wrong with that. that hard knock track just got me expecting maybe a lil too much.
June 15, 2012 @ 21:53:20
oh jam i ain't even know he had a thread already .. my boy just put me on to this nigga today . NY has def been on the come up for hip hop son . i'm excited to hear new music today with that 90's hip-hop feel again .

June 16, 2012 @ 07:26:57
i hyped the tape to much , still real good. but let me down a bit
like someone else said hardknock got my expectations real high, same with survival tactics

still kids gonna be a problem
June 16, 2012 @ 08:01:23

lol please shut the fuck up you dumb corny whiny bitch.

daily routine, funky hos, world domination, righteous minds, and waves are going to be getting very many plays smokeyface
June 16, 2012 @ 13:34:02
the dude's sick as fuck.

Some questions should never been asked.

June 16, 2012 @ 20:57:45
tape was whatever for me. It definitely had some shining moments (Hardknock in particular), but he just isn't really using that to do something creative. Even though it's evident that Joey is a pretty good technical rapper, he rarely deviates from basic rap cliches, which is extremely troubling, because his sound relies almost entirely on a time where if you didn't have something insightful to say, or at least able to present it through a personal/interesting/original perspective, you weren't really much.

IMO, joey just needs time to develop, but that's gonna prove to be hella difficult seeing as how everyone is anxious to go out and discover that next big thing in music.
June 16, 2012 @ 23:49:53
yeah honestly like I really don't want to hate on the kid but I feel the same way, it feels like he's at the stage where he's finally like ingested all of the various aspects of creating a Golden Age hip-hop record but not much else. As much as I dug the vibe of the whole shit, with that kind of sound and that kind of lyricism being so rare nowadays, if I had to be critical I'd say that the biggest flaw of the project is I feel vaguely like I've heard this shit before. It's a good collection of songs, no question, but there's a certain element of ingenuity that's missing, and while that's probably just due to the fact that dude's 17 fucking years old most of the time that sort of "this new artist is super relevant because he does X" is the meat and potatoes of the discourse and I can't think of much to say about Joey Bada$$ that doesn't involve how much he sounds like the 90s
June 17, 2012 @ 02:55:02
I did a writeup on it, I like the Survival Tactics song the most, Im not really a hip hop head but i enjoyed it.
June 17, 2012 @ 04:19:16
stupid name for a rapper
haven't heard it but i already know its some dusty shit just by the name
some shit mix tape to feed those "real hip hop" idiots
June 17, 2012 @ 04:25:03
Lmfao I thought the same man I fucking hate anyone that uses the term "real hip hop" like wtf does that mean
June 17, 2012 @ 04:29:58
i don't really see anything special tbh

i mean these niggas are just some spoiled brats who look like tumblr dressed them

but hey some idiots have to fall for the hype
June 17, 2012 @ 07:51:35
"I don't really see anything special" Do you hear anything? Cause that's what matters.
He is by no means the best or as good as hype suggests, but is any artists that generates buzz?

Anyways, the reason I enjoy listening to music he makes is the wordplay, and just overall different approach. He's not the best using this sound, but he's good and has bars.
