A Look at Kendrick Lamar's Ability to Collaborate With Others

Kendrick Lamar’s latest music video for his track “ELEMENT.” released last week and it supplemented Kendrick’s lyrics with some emotional scenes of life and brutality. The video was directed by Berlin-based filmmaker Jonas Lindstroem, and it emulated his own short film, Truth or Dare. Since its release, the internet has recognized that the video pays tribute to the photography of Gordon Parks from the 1940s. Parks lived an impressive life, and was the first African-American man to shoot photos for publications like Life and Vogue. He was also the first to have a big Hollywood film with his 1971 flick Shaft, which went on to generate a whole genre of ‘blaxsploitation’ films.
