Old Skools and Sk8-His in red and blue.
It’s been 50 years since leading global footwear manufacturer Vans opened up shop as a humble West Coast brand in ‘66. The booming skate scene of the ’70s with the subsequent rise of the Z-Boys laid the cultural fabric for Vans as the brand became a favorite among names like Stacey Peralta, Tony Alva and Jay Adams, and it’s why Vans is one of the leading brands for creative expression and skate heritage today. Keeping true to its roots, the brand is celebrating its 50th birthday this year with an exclusive collection of skate shoes made in partnership with longtime friend and collaborator JD Sports.
One of the world’s most recognized silhouettes with the side stripe, the Old Skool is being offered in pillar-box red and classic blue colorways on their canvas and leather uppers that both share the classic checkerboard lining that was made famous by the brand in the ’80s. The classic Sk8-Hi — the first skate shoe ever to utilise athletic-style support — is also being released as a checkerboard JD exclusive and will feature the original construction
