ILMxLAB Will Create a Star Wars Virtual Reality Experience
No one really knows the limits of VR, but don’t tell that to Lucasfilm.
No one knows exactly where virtual reality will go or rather how consumers will experience it, but that’s not stopping Lucasfilm from reappropriating its famed franchise for the newest frontier of entertainment. Joining forces with Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound to form ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm has been developing “virtual reality, augmented reality, real-time cinema, theme park entertainment and narrative-based experiences for future platforms.” Best of all, the inaugural release from ILMxLAB, which will be centered on Star Wars, may release before its latest film hits theaters later this year.
