Chris Evans Revealed as New Host of Top Gear
British broadcasting legend and car collector Chris Evans to replace disgraced former host Clarkson.

British broadcaster and former Radio One DJ Chris Evans has been revealed as Jeremy Clarkson’s replacement, and new host of the BBC’s flagship automotive show Top Gear. Evans, a huge motoring fan who built a reputation as a maverick TV and radio presenter throughout the 1990s and currently hosts BBC Radio 2’s breakfast show, has said “I promise I will do everything I possibly can to respect what has gone on before and take the show forward,” and that he is “thrilled” to take on the job, after Clarkson was fired earlier this year for punching the show’s producer. An all-new lineup also means the departure of Clarkson’s co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May, a decision which prompted May to tweet a good luck message to Evans, calling the move “ballsy.” Production on the new series of Top Gear will start in the next few weeks and the BBC said more information would be announced in due course
