Set to launch in this year’s winter, sporting goods brand Wilson recently unveiled its latest ingenuity: the smart basketball. The purpose behind the technology is to track your activity by way of a synced app to review your own performance. This is all achieved through performance-tracking sensors placed inside of the ball, designed by Finnish artificial intelligence firm SportIQ. While this may come in handy for training on professional grounds, the new smart basketball is actually aimed at Wilson’s consumer base. In short, the basketball of the future allows all of us to review how well we shoot, which part of the court we’re at our most optimum, the amount of time before letting a shot go and more.
