In an age where wearable tech has reached a turning point, Nike appears to be taking a slightly different stance by pulling the plug on the hardware team of its Digital Sport division. According to sources at CNET, the sportswear giant recently relieved the majority of a 70-person hardware team of their duties. The team was involved with the Nike+ FuelBand, SportWatch GPS and other sport-specific peripheral devices. Many industry experts speculate that this bold move indicates that Nike intends to focus its future wearable efforts toward software. No official word from Nike as of yet, however in an effort to calm the situation the group has announced that it will continue to sell the second-generation FuelBand SE for the time being. Head over to CNET for the full report.
