Google recently launched a new add-on for the Google Maps platform dubbed Pokémon Challenge. Integrating the best-selling game’s universe with the existing Maps app, users can activate the ability to view, find and capture randomly-plotted wild Pokémon when WiFi or data is enabled. The app fully utilizes the GPS functionality available on most smartphones to simulate the appearance of the monsters on the screen as the user gets closer, activating a short mini-game.
To coincide with the challenge, Google has also opened applications for the role of Pokémon Master, who will be selected for a position at the Googleplex beginning September 1 of this year. For more details on the position, check out Google’s Careers page here. The contest is only open for April 1.
