Revealed in front of a skyline backdrop at The Standard in New York’s East Village, acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist Daniel Arsham has teamed up with the iconic Pharrell Williams to recreate a set of Casio MT-500s. The importance of this particular piece cannot be overstated, as it was one of the first instruments Pharrell ever created music with. There is a deep sense of history entrenched in the keyboard, reinforced by Arsham’s affinity for using evocative, rustic materials. In this collaboration, the keyboard/drum kits look like ancient artifacts in the modern age. Visitors to the launch were able to physically hold the keyboards and meet with Arsham – a fully immersive experience itself.
