Ahead of its release next year comes an early look at Crysis 3 and its acclaimed CryENGINE 3 game engine for Crytek. As the game sees Prophet return to New York City 24 years after the events of Crysis 2 to find it encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation, this tech demo showcases the urban rainforest and swamplands of futuristic Manhattan. Updated with Direct X 11 support, CryENGINE 3 will allow for the likes of real-time volumetric cloud and fog shadows and pixel accurate displacement mapping alongside tessellated vegetation, composite 3D lens flares, procedural HDR flares and shapes, real-time global illumination, dynamic water volume caustics, real-time area lighting, unlimited particle effects lighting, and integrated cloth and vegetation simulation – all resulting in some of the best graphics in gaming history. Crysis 3 is due out for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in February of 2013.
