Started in 2009, Japanese streetwear brand CHALLENGER have slowly been building a name for themselves, using collaborations with other big brands such as NEIGHBORHOOD and WTAPS to get them noticed in what some people think is already an over-saturated market. Next for them is this joint venture with San Francisco-based skater brand HUF. CHALLENGER take influence from their love of motorbikes and skateboarding, so HUF would seem to be a natural choice to work with. Two items will be available from this venture. Firstly a T-shirt featuring two birds, one representing CHALLENGER Japan and the other representing HUF USA. Both company logos also appear stitched to the bottom front on the tee. Next is a range of caps – an all-black, all-red and a white with black peak version will be released, all with the letters CUF stitched onto the front, representing a double meaning. The first is the more obvious, replacing the H of HUF with the C of CHALLENGER. The other stand for “Came Up First,” a motto used by CHALLENGER on some of their products. Both items will be available at CHALLENGER retailers soon. The T-shirt will retail for ¥6,090 (approximately $75 USD) whilst the caps will be ¥9,450 (approximately $117 USD) each.
