Uh guys, how and why would it be a ploy by Apple to MAKE you buy cases, when Apple themselves are offering free cases to all iPhone 4 buyers? Even though they can’t produce 4 billion bumpers, they’re willing to buy them other bumpers from other companies as well. GOOD TRY GOOD TRY.

I don’t know if Incase will bring their bamboo case back but check out grovemade.com. They have rad bamboo cases with many artist designs. You can even make your own design.

Actually Apple announced that they messed up. The reception problem was traced back all the way to the first one. It was giving Reception bars when there was no reception. Basically imaginary service. They are going to release an update for it soon.

@garret @da beast is right… I was reading it was all a marketing ploy for consumers to buy a case (preferably apples) but to be honest the whole dropped bars thing only occurs after a while of holding it that specific way. Then again, this issue never should have been a problem to begin with.

Apple has said already that a case (or bumper, as they call it) gets rid of the problem. It just needs that small degree of separation between your skin and the antenna.

@Garrett From what I heard they did it on purpose so that you’re required to purchase a case for the phone. When the case is on, you don’t have that issue with the reception. I’ve seen it first hand.

With the problems that iPhone 4 is having with bad reception from the antenna being covered by the user’s hand, I’m curious as to how a case will effect that.
