Nike 6.0 Tunnel Jam Event

by L.A. Ruano, October 6, 2009

This past weekend, Nike 6.0 held their Tunnel Jam in England. The BMX event featured a batch of top tier riders with well respected guest judges in attendance. Defgrip gives us a closer look into the event, with some details behind it seen below:

The tunnel where the comp was held is basically in the middle of nowhere and some locals have used it to house a few things to ride, but nothing like what you see in the photos. Fast forward to now and Nike is in the picture, willing to build ramps and hold a contest. Ultimately, workers laid down tarmac and built and amazing set of ramps which will stay in the Tunnel for the local scene to manage and enjoy. You know how it’s a bummer when contests end and they tear everything down?? This is the opposite of that.

If you were wondering about the secrecy surrounding this event, it was with good reason. Due to the nature of the site, there was no room on the course for people to chill besides the beginning and end quarter decks and there was limited parking. The majority of the people watched from outside on a jumbo screen. This one had to be mellow and low key.

Stop moaning you geeks. Nike is what it is. Would this have happened without them ? Nah, didn’t think so. A unique once in a lifetime ride.

Just because this event was sponsored by Nike 6.0 doesn’t mean that all of these riders ride for 6.0. Lotek is bmxer owned, and designed spacificaly for bmx, why on earth would they want to make running shoes or football cleats? They created the company to make shoes just for bmx, not to try and make billions. 6.0 left the ramps, which supports the bmx comunity, which is fucking sick! Get your shit together before you start talking.

You guys are a bunch of dicks. Hypebeasters are always hating on some shit. Nike built ramps (that they left) and held a contest. I’m sure everyone there was super appreciative. You lame asses, on the otherhand, need to shut up and contribute instead of hating all of the damn time.

Hey Dakins. My Aunt wears Vans and my Nephew Etnies. Neither can slap down a backside smith or have any idea what a flip whip is. This looks amazing, if Lotek made decent running shoes runners would probably wear them. Get over it. Don’t like em don’t buy em, but don’t bitch on what looks like a great idea and an amazing park, one that Lotek riders probably sessioned.

That lame part is that Nike even sponsors skaters and riders. I don’t see football or baseball players wearing Loteks.
