Finally, we see an official picture of one of the sneakers from the Kanye West and Louis Vuitton collaboration. The sneaker comes in all red with a simple form, but it features a special quilted flap on the back heel for your jeans. Check out the press release below:

PARIS — Marc Jacobs and the Louis Vuitton men’s studio director Paul Helbers have some design competition this season. Kanye West, who was sitting front row at the Vuitton show, has designed a line of five LV sneakers. Only one design, above, was featured in the show — a monochromatic midtop with no frills, save for a quilted flap in the back, all the easier to tuck pants into. “The inspiration came from a jacket with a huge collar in the movie ‘Dune,’ ” West says. “Most sneakers focus on the tongue, so I wanted to do something different.” West knows whereof he speaks: he says he has no idea how many shoes he owns, but he does know that he routinely needs to send shipments off to storage. The LV-meets-Kanye kicks will be available at Louis Vuitton stores in June.

I just saw more pictures of these on Kanye’s blog. He looks like the definition of cool with the red sneaks and paired red scarf. The faded jeans add a nice element, texturally. You can’t say these aren’t his style, when you see the pictures of him with them on. Look at the ‘real life’ pictures of the shoes on him and tell me they still ’suck’.
The simplicity of these shoes is fantastic. Mono-colored with an innovative ‘wing’ on the back (which, like it or not should have been invented 10 years ago and wasn’t), these shoes are pure class.
Are elements borrowed? For sure. But, even Kanye can’t re-invent the foot.

These are nice. A flow of simple shapes, and texture looks clean. The only problem i have is the unnecessary monogram elements on the sole. Makes the shoe look childish (ironic huh?)

not that impressed…def needs work. the shape is weak. whats with the spoiler(lol)? your jeans should tuck naturally, not forced. LV was doing better without his imput.

the shoe is just like his music alot of sampled parts that always comes out good. (excluding his last album) all in all i think they’re tight. i would definetly trade my nike collection for these.

why are you talkin about stolen designs? damn near every shoe in existance has some kind of design inspirations from previous styles no matter what the brand. everybody needs to stop hating on this man because the bottom line is that he is one of the most talented and creative people in the world. the man is working with louis vutton for fuck sake. he is one of the biggest influences in fashion today whether you like it or not. Also, STOP hating on his album, because that was a GREAT album for real. Just because its outside of the box doesnt mean you should hate on the dude for being creative and straight killing that shit.

they def. look like a skate shoe I saw in a CCS catalog. I actually like them, but its because of the shape, cut, and monochromatic colorway…has NOTHING to do with a Kanye or LV affiliation. If they were like $79, I’d be all over them
