kanye weat interview louis vuitton 1 Interview with Kanye West on his Louis Vuitton Collaboration

Aside from the wide array of talented designers Paris Fashion Week showcased this week, the top story remains Kanye West’s collaboration with prestigious fashion house Louis Vuitton. Never shy to boast of his accomplishments and aspirations, Mr. West gets down with Dazed Digital on a brief interview talking about various subjects including his outlook as a designer, obsession with fashion, and favorite blogs among other subjects. As always, thanks for the love Kanye.

Kanye West on his inspiration for the sneakers
“They’ve got a sci-fi influence with this flap up at the back. It came from a scene in ‘Dune’ where there was this jacket with a huge collar. Also Japanese pop art.”

…on his obsession with fashion
“I don’t know. I just love clothes. I picked out my own clothes when I first went to kindergarten and there’s no turning back since. And I’ve always been into clothes and I’ve always been into myself. And none of that’s changed since I’ve become a celebrity. It’s just allowed me to be more into myself and more into clothes!”

…on his aspirations as a designer
“I wanna be the type of designer that inspires people, not follow other ideas. I wanna be as innovative as Marc Jacobs has been. I wanna go from being a fashion plate to being an innovator. This collaboration is a dream come true. Everybody comes to these shows has a love of fashion, but then it’s just figuring out what’s your place in it. I’m a walking billboard but to be able to now create something from scratch is amazing.”

…on his blog
“It gives me the opportunity to do a lot of things. Blogs are great for everybody to express, “This is what I’m into. This is what my taste level is. This is the stuff that inspires me.” And then now instead of stuff I send through my email, I’ll send through my blog. Sometimes if I’m looking for an appartment, I’ll send stuff out and look through my own blog. It’s stuff I’m into. Like when I put the girl’s section up (“Where are you Yeezy?” section which features scantily clad girls all saying the aforementioned) It’s all different girls I’m into. I like model girls, edgy girls, fashion girls and outright porn girls too!:

…on his favorite blogs
“What’s really cool about my blog is I give credit to the blogs so you can click and go to the blog. So like Selectism, High Snobiety, Hypebeast, Bossip, Perez.”

The complete interview can be read here.

Why is marc jacobs wearing a skirt?…… and leggings?

  2. Posted by:denimlife on January 26, 2009 at 1:31 am

    And actually dicky..

He was wearing louis vuiton graffiti style leggings in the video, unfortunately, and has had significant hand in multiple designs produced by Louis Vuitton. The brand itself isn’t bad, it’s actually magnificent, it’s when dumbfuck faux-fashionistas like kanye west and whom ever the fuck those clowns are next to him come along and shit all over good quality merchandise is when the problem comes along.

I’m sorry but those shoes are an absolute disgrace to the fashion house: Louis Vuitton. They’re known for outstanding leather quality and pristine fitting clothing not for obnoxiously opulent, and just down right tacky, footwear. It’s true money does not by class. Now I’m aware you cannot buy style either.

    annnnnd.. on another note..
Why was Marc Jacobs wearing a skirt and leggings in the video? Like ok he’s gay big shocker there. But drag now? It’s unnecessary and demeaning for someone of his social status being a highly regarded designer and all.

Hypebeast I kid you not, THIS IS NOT THE ”top story” of Paris Fashion Week.

Please stop this constant ball licking of a ”kindergarten designer” who’s cut and pasted every sneaker he has a small crush on.

This blog used to be ever so slightly subjective, sadly it turns into a Kanye / LVMH advert.

Come on Hypebeast raise the game!

what has happened to sneaker culture? all you little hypebeast kids ruined this subculture by making it mainstream and now you got assholes creating ugly sh1t, and all of you will buy it because KANYE made it, all this dam “hype” and all of you hypebeasts have ruined the integrity of real shoe collectors.

More nonsense off the rack for those who lack original ideas the only ones who profit are the owners of LVMH MOET there is no subtext here only greed and poseur factor desperatly trying to gain street credability girls with LV Bags and UGG boots is this brands true consumer MArk Jacobs dosesnt even wear LV

  19. Posted by:panda666 on January 24, 2009 at 1:37 am

this is the style that far away from my life…I don’t hate LV or Gucci, i only buy them for my girlfriend….lol…but for myself, i prefer to wear Nike SB and BAPE…

  20. Posted by:internet on January 24, 2009 at 1:36 am

Those shoes are tight but I can’t see them being worn correctly. The few people that can afford them probably don’t know how to dress themselves (people who wear vizvim, I’m looking at you).

The designs are fairly basic which is a plus. It wouldn’t be smart to come up with anything to crazy while you’re trying to establish yourself as a high fashion designer. Props to Kanye nonetheless. Livin’ the dream.

    OMG

    Kanye, youre such a trendsetter!

    ?

  27. Posted by:paula on January 23, 2009 at 7:00 pm

You have to give Kanye credit for following his Passion for clothes/ There isnt anything new under the sun just different takes on everything so whos to say whats original or not? the shoes in my opinion are cool id do these instead of the Air Yeezys. This is one of the most influencial guys in Music fashion wise.

I think hes steppin his game up….i like the red ones….Taz arnold is the man too!

  29. Posted by:Dante on January 23, 2009 at 5:54 pm

they are just over priced crap they dont look good its not original and being LV its not gonna be worth the money

  30. Posted by:eric on January 23, 2009 at 5:18 pm

Nice interview! But Kanye only started giving out credit to other blogs when he got called out. He used to takes stuff from hypebeast all the time and give no credit until a certain blog called him out.

and kanye looks like he has the hair cut of Scott Hall from wcw

  32. Posted by:big daddy kaaaaaane on January 23, 2009 at 5:09 pm

they look like they can be easily faked imo

  33. Posted by:pissedoffsneakerhead on January 23, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Im not hating on the shoes, but no one is gonna rock these at that price point. What is going on with the fashion world. Its like the same names over and over. We need some new peeps to step up and come with something fresh and new.

The only semi-hot stuff Kanye drops is collabs with another company. Just because you picked out your own clothes since kindergarden doesnt mean you can design them. Picking out something already designed is alot easier then starting from scratch. Why doesnt he start focusing on his Pastelle line instead.

“I wanna be the type of designer that inspires people, not follow other ideas”
