Sean Connery for Louis Vuitton Ad Campaign
by L.A. Ruano, October 8, 2008

In the latest of their celebrity infused ad’s, French fashion house Louis Vuitton look to the original James Bond for a classic, cool looking ad campaign. Having showcased the likes of Keith Richards and the duo of Francis Ford Coppola with his directing daughter Sofia, Mr. Connery was a natural choice that had been on their list for some time. The shot was taken near his residence in the Bahamas.

I would agree that yes the site’s content has become a little more diverse but so has tastes of the people running the site. Furthermore I think that any content out of the norm will resonate more-so (i.e. this & DH) because for the same reasons you have brought it up, it is not typical HB content. Hypebeast will never be a men.style.com-esque site for the reasons that you stated, it’s not HB’s “core expertise” but not to say that certain content isn’t interesting and worth mentioning. In this case given Sean Connery’s position as an iconic figure and a brand with LV’s heritage, the combination creates something worth bringing to light.
It is a cool ad, but it seems that this site is really starting to become a bit too far off from its core expertise… Louis Vuitton? Dior Homme? The creatives behind these brands are definitely cool, but is it necessary for every creative to align themself with some inaccessible luxury brand?
yeah i think the bag’d only look cool next to him
