Warrior Shoe Book
A Chinese-born design student in Helsinki has chosen to document the “Warrior” sneaker, a Chinese national gym shoe that came out in the 70’s but is sold to this day. Shumeng Ye returned to China and documented the folks who wore these shoes, also capturing their lifestyle at the same time. It is ironic how something that was meant to be generic, practical, and uniform, for wear by the “people”, can be considered a desirable fashion collector’s item in Paris 30 years later.
