Jannik Sinner's Custom Gucci Duffle Takes Tennis Gear to Luxury Heights

Made in collaboration with tennis brand Head, the bag prioritize performance while lauding Gucci’s longstanding heritage in the sport.

Following on from a Riccardo Raspa-shot tennis campaign starring ambassador and pro athlete Jannik Sinner (and amid heightened demand for racket-clad uniforms thanks to Zendaya’s playful fashions on the Challengers press tour), Gucci is now claiming another stake on the court with its own custom match-playing design for its highest-ranking Italian player.

At his first game for this year’s French Open in Paris on Monday, Sinner sported a one-of-one duffle bag from the Italian fashion house, produced with tennis manufacturing label Head’s leading performance materials. The San Candido-hailing athlete, who beat out Christopher Eubanks in the tournament’s first round, will carry the high-end duffle at all of his upcoming competitions this season.

Decorated with Gucci x Head signage, the all-white leather design dons a signature green-red-green Web stripe, paying homage to Gucci’s longstanding history in tennis gear. Notably, the brand’s story with the sport dates back to the 1970s, when it expanded its court gear to include ready-to-wear, accessories, and footwear with the aforementioned motif.

The duffle comes after Gucci unveiled its first custom bag for Sinner at the Wimbledon Championships last year. The inaugural design championed the House’s savoir-faire with a distinct, all-over monogram — but without all the performance specs from Head. Now, Gucci’s partnership with the sporting manufacturer looks to open “new opportunities to explore innovative designs and push the boundaries of both sportswear and luxury fashion.”
