Dao-Yi Chow Named New Era Creative Director
Creating the brand’s first namesake apparel line.

Fashion designer Dao-Yi Chow has been announced as the new Creative Director and Vice President of New Era.
Known for starting Public School with Maxwell Osborne in 2008, Chow’s experience within the fashion landscape has spanned over two decades. Aside from Public School, the designer also served as the Creative Director at Sean Jean, Artistic Director at Donna Karan, Global Creative Director at Sergio Tacchini and Creative Director at BRADY Brand.
As the company’s creative lead, Chow is set to launch New Era’s first namesake apparel line titled “BRAND NEW ERA TM.” To date, New Era has been known as a leader in sports headwear, but given the expansion plans, Chow is set to take the brand into a new territory with apparel. Alongside serving as the design lead, Chow will also work on marketing and merchandising for the apparel line internationally.
“New Era is a cultural icon and categorically the grail of headwear. To sit at the helm of a new direction for the brand that will complement its 100-year history in caps is an exciting task,” said Dao-Yi Chow. “It is truly a full-circle moment, not only is New Era my cap of choice, but it was also the foundation of the headwear partnership for Public School at the time we launched our ‘We Need Leaders’ campaign. To be back with the team is exciting and I’m looking forward to introducing BRAND NEW ERA TM apparel to the world.”
