Freshjive "Fairfax" 2008 Summer Collection

Freshjive started by Rick Klotz back in 1989 could be considered as one of the brands that started the whole Streetwear movement which encompasses elements from hip hop, punk, surf, skate and art. Representing subject matter parallel to the new ongoing feature on Freshjive titled The World’s Got Problems comes Freshjive’s t-shirt collection “The Good Ol’ Days”. Both finding a common denominator in world problems, the politically motivated themes of both the t-shirts and the blog are a interesting take on the ideologies of Freshjive founder Rick Klotz and The World’s Got Problems contributor Jason Rosencrantz.

Freshjive 2008 Spring Tees

Freshjive 2008 Spring Tees

“Things turn gray” is the slogan for the following Freshjive t-shirts for Spring ‘08. While other brands are putting out brightly colored one-tones, Fresh Jive is putting out slightly more pessimistic and low-key images and colors. The “Lords of Los Angeles” Tees seem to refer to a “Warriors” type theme and the old style gangs concept we saw during winter. If you look carefully there is also a “Raiders-esque” logo on the sleeve, the favoured logo of LA OG’s. Themes overall are of rebellion and deliquency; vintage bike racing, punk collages and axe diplomacy. See more after the jump.

With his years and years of experience, he gives a very pragmatic insight that people don’t really care about what statements you’re trying to make, as long as your clothes sell. After all, making clothes is still a business. Check out the interview at Freshjive.
