The New York based sneaker boutique, The Rivington Club, is set to release a new sneaker with Asics. Utilizing the Asics Gel Lyte III model, Rivington Club has come up with two colorways each featuring a woven label on the heel counter as well as a A.R.C. branded foot bed art. The sneakers are set to release in June and will be available exclusive the Rivington Club and at www.rivingtonclub.com.
With a strong foundation in Japan due to the roots laid close to 60 years ago, Asics has all but maintained a strong presence in its country of birth. Here’s a look into their latest collection of footwear including the classic Pro Court models in its variants and the Top Seven. Seen within the collection are Nextide releases, something that was originally conceived to offer an alternative method of enclosure for sneakers and provide an easier way of life to those unable to deal with conventional forms of enclosure like laces. Available now at Flauge.
With impending troubles on the horizon between Solebox and Nike Germany, Solebox has returned to one of its greatest skills as collaborator extraordinaire. It seems more often then not every sneaker to come under their influence of the German sneaker shop has yielded smart and cohesive colorways, albeit with a strong affection to purple. Their latest collaboration with Asics on the Gel Lyte III features a purple/gray suede sneaker. However beyond a nice colorway is a color sensitive upper/midsole that turns purple in the sun. Two different styles were created, a special Solebox exclusive with the stores name featured on the heel and sole that will only be available through the Berlin retailer as well as a version devoid of Solebox symbolism that will be available at Asics’ finest dealers around the world. No word yet on a release date however by all accounts it should be arriving soon. Check Solebox for more details.
Our sentiments over here have been surprisingly good for the majority of releases coming out of Asics. Their archival footwear models like the Gel Lyte II and GT-II both share stream-line silhouettes from an era of rather chunky footwear. Despite being pretty much the precursor to Nike’s success over 30 years ago, Asics are doing well in their own regard thanks largely in part to great colorways. These are available now at Solebox who have also just debuted their very own micro-chip black VIP card which will be available soon.
Since the return of the Asics Gel Lyte III, the misses have been few and far between. The difficult task of choosing only the best colorways seems to have boded well as we’ve seen solid colorway, one after another. This latest future release includes the unconventional use of mud, pink and purple. Check your local Asics dealer in the coming weeks and months for this solid release.

Solebox has been behind numerous successful collaborations in the past and we anticipate much of the same with this team up with Asics on the Gel Lyte III. The purple and gray upper seems to have a hidden bonus with UV sensitive materials which change color in the sun. No word yet regarding the release date but stay tuned for more info.

Alife, a New York based brand, has been considered one of the more respected streetwear brands in the industry. Because of this, Alife has had the opportunity to work with many sneaker companies including Asics. After last year’s collaboration on the Gel Lyte, they’re at it again and will be releasing this upcoming sneaker. Unfortunately no news of when they will be released.

The Koi Klub initiative includes a wide range of lifestyle offerings from a free magazine to sneaker collaborations with Asics and other art ventures. At the recent Bread & Butter Barcelona trade show, Koi Klub founder Yoske Nishiumi debuted an intricate and detailed transformation sculpture of a symbolic koi fish into an Asics sneaker. No word on whether this is commercially available.

New York based sneaker boutique David Z. has pushed forward on the success of its previous David Z. x Asics Gel Lyte III’s to release another collaboration under the name Solid Gold and Stainless Steel Collection. These sneakers were created by the mastermind behind previous Asics and David Z. collaborations, Ronnie Fieg. The veteran sneaker designer created these in commemoration of David Z.’s 25th Anniversary.
Keeping consistent with previous collaborations and using the Asics Gel Lyte III model, the two contrasting colorways each tell a different story. Stainless Steel is a tribute to the 25 years that David Z. has carried out as an independent sneaker boutique in New York. While Solid Gold was created as an inspiration brought forth by David Z’s status as a high end luxury sneaker boutique in the heart of Soho. 200 pairs of each colorway are set to release during Christmas, while 50 pairs will be allocated online at David Z..
