Description

Salehe Bembury is an American shoe designer and the Footwear Design Director at Brooklyn-based footwear label GREATS. Raised in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood, Bembury graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Industrial Design in 2009 and honed his skills at brands like United Nude, Damon Dash, Birkenstock, and Cole Haan, the latter of which he designed the successful LunarGrand collection for. Alongside starting his own apparel label Duane NYC, Bembury was appointed Footwear Design Director at GREATS in July 2014, adding new designs like The Wilson and the Pronto Runner to the brand’s repertoire. Being a New York native, Bembury is heavily influenced by downtown culture, which he mixes with more traditional footwear design, a style honed during his stints at Payless ShoeSource and Cole Haan.
