Description
David Obadia is the artistic director and co-founder of Parisian streetwear label BWGH, along with Nelson Hassan. Growing up in the suburbs of Paris, Obadia found a strong fascination for fashion at an early age, from watching his parents work in said industry to following the style-heavy cultures of sneakerheads, basketball and hip-hop as a young boy.
Having done an internship at Pigalle, Obadia founded BWGH in 2010 with his childhood friend Nelson Hassan, quickly garnering acclaim in streetwear circles, as well as coveted collaborations with colette, Opening Ceremony, Maison Kitsune and PUMA within its first four years. In September 2014, Obadia launched a separate, higher-end label called Harmony, which he cited as being the result of his personal evolution in fashion towards a broader, more sophisticated aesthetic.
He is highly influenced by the art world, having attributed some of his designs to the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Rothko, and Yves Klein. Obadia currently lives in Montmartre, Paris.
