Oak + Oar Summer 2013 is now available at www.oakandoar.com/shop

This Time Tomorrow is a phrase that has become a staple in our mentality. As the work week grinds to a close we find ourselves hunched over our duffel bags on a late Thursday packing our essentials for the weekend. As we scramble to find those smokies, that we know are in the fridge somewhere, our memory bank hits us with that familiar aroma of the open fire and almost immediately we begin to vividly paint a picture of where we will be at this precise moment in time tomorrow. This Time Tomorrow, we will be at the lake, posted up on the deck, feet up on that weathered plastic patio chair, beer in tow, catching the setting sun over a glassy lake with the syndicate. Doesn’t get much better.

It is this summer depiction that inspired the latest offering from Oak + Oar.

This Time Tomorrow is a collection of must-have summer time staples from strong tropical motif pocket tanks to original photo print tees depicting the view from the deck. From a cascading array of colour to muted monotone graphics, the collection has everything for the laid-back weekend out on the deck, around the fire pit or out trolling the shorelines for some small mouth bass.

The 2013 collection is proudly printed in Canada and currently available for purchase at www.oakandoar.com/shop and offers International shipping.

This year we are partnering, once again, with The Masigcine Children’s Home in Mfuleni, South Africa. $1 from every purchase made this year will directly benefit the South African Children’s Home. The home currently houses 28 orphaned, abandoned, and HIV infected children between 3-months to 6-years of age.

Fall/Winter 2013 'The Return To Glory'

Oak + Oar is pleased to present their Fall/Winter 2013 collection entitled ‘The Return to Glory’. The brand delivers a collection that embodies Oak + Oar’s passion for sport and outdoors through a range of product that pays homage to the return of professional hockey to their hometown.

The Winnipeg Jets captivated fans for years in their dilapidated home arena on Maroon road as members of the WHA and NHL. In 1993, one of the leagues greatest players, Teemu Selanne, had just capped off a season that saw him put up 132 points – a new Rookie record that will likely never be touched. Following this success the city of Winnipeg was alive with an abundance of excitement surrounding the team. As the NHL continued US expansion the Winnipeg ownership group was met with an array of financial barriers that included higher salaries and operating cost that did not mesh with the declining value of the Canadian dollar. In 1994-95 the NHL lockout occurred and the Winnipeg Jets organization never fully recovered financially and were forced into relocation.
The Winnipeg Jets franchise was a cornerstone to the city. As a kid growing up it was like having your best friend up and move away. Winnipeggers lost their physical team but they never lost their love for hockey and the NHL. This tradition was carried on for the 16 years during hockey’s absence. Names of Winnipeg’s NHL greats could still be spotted on the outdoor rinks and ponds during the long harsh winters. After years of waiting for their number to be called again hope was restored with the announcement that a new ownership group had purchased the Atlanta Thrashers. And on May 31, 2011 it became official.

Oak + Oar’s Fall/Winter collection entitled The Return to Glory explores the cycle of heartbreak and heartache to restored pride through a collection of tees, fleece, headwear, accessories and a capsule collection with Mark Stuart of the Winnipeg Jets that embodies the historic past and the Return to Glory of the National Hockey League and the stored Jets franchise to Winnipeg.

The collection is now available online at www.oakandoar.com/shop

Winnipeg based brand, Oak + Oar, is pleased to have joined forces with Winnipeg Jet defenceman Mark Stuart of the National Hockey League on a capsule collection coinciding with the release of Oak + Oar's Fall/Winter Collection 'The Return to Glory'.

As a part of the capsule collection Oak + Oar and Mark Stuart sought out Vancouver based leather artisan, and former Winnipegger, Ken Diamond to collaborate on a limited run of leather made belts. The result of the project is a 10oz English Bridle veggie tan leather belt, a leather long synonymous with the horse tack trade. The hand crafted belts feature red, heavy linen waxed thread detailing around the nickel plated roller buckle. The belt includes the stamps of each respecitve party debossed by custom crafted magnesium stamps.

The belt release is limited to 21 pieces that will be available for purchase exclusively through oakandoar.com on November 23, 2013 and will ship with a signed puck. Available in size 30 through 36.

Ken Diamond

Ken Diamond began to work with leather in the late 90′s and established Ken Diamond in 2003. The philosophy behind the works of Ken Diamond are simple-high quality leather goods with classic designs, entirely hand made in his Vancouver studio. As leather work is a dying art, he works at keeping the traditions alive while using modern techniques to keep the work simple and minimal.

Mark Stuart

Is an American born professional hockey player who currently is an alternate captain of the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Boston Bruins 21st overall in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft after leading Team USA to their first ever World Junior Hockey Championships gold medal in 2004.
