Dutch advertisement firm Strawberry Frog is bringing awareness to Onitsuka Tiger’s latest campaign through the construction of their “Electric Tiger Land” installation. The entire sculpture is a tribute to the vibrant and progressive thinking city of Tokyo which has come to define Onitsuka Tiger as a brand. The sneaker shaped city is filled with intricate details including skyscrapers, Narita airport, vending machines and subway trains throughout. Other consumable items have been created to go along with this giant sculpture such as key-chains and USB keys.
As many designers aim to create concept driven designs, no shortage of automotive and vehicular inspirations have been penned on the drawing board and ultimately made the cut into the final design. The latest car collabo features the new Mini Clubman teaming up with footwear brand Onitsuka Tiger to create a special model of the R 55. A handful of the Clubman’s design features were transfered to the R 55. Three different colorways are available this month at select Onitsuka Tiger retailers and Mini dealerships.
Asics affiliate Onitsuka Tiger teamed up with Berlin’s Koi Klub to create this latest collection of sneakers. Based on a varsity jacket, the sneakers incorporate varsity specific materials such as leather, wool and chenille. The heels each possess symbolic images. The left heel sports the Japanese characters 古意 (koi), which symbolizes ancient ways. The right heel features 02 which reflects the year Koi Klub was created and the number of Koi Klub x Onitsuka collaborations to date. 550 pairs of each color will be available.
