Description
A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, is a Japanese streetwear brand founded in 1993 by NIGO. It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items. In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.

Latest Collections
The February 2008 issue of the Japanese magazine Eyescream has recently been released. We have already seen many magazines talking Bape in these past view years but everytime someone does it, we are still interested in Bape especially the lifestyle of the main man behind it, Nigo. The Bape feature will include a long interview with Nigo, Skate Thing, Teriyaki Boyz, Wonderwall’s Masamichi Katayama and many more. The book is now available at your local Japanese bookstores.

The Bape Store in Hong Kong will round out the end of 2007 with the following items as part of their Fall/Winter Collection. Among the items are a varsity jacket, hoodies, denim and a wide range of accessories. The accessories include mini plush Baby Milos, belts, pillows, hats and wallets. Arriving at Bape Hong Kong on December 29th.

Bape and G-Shock have had a relatively long relationship spanning over several different collaborative efforts. Their latest DW5600 features a black body with a brown camo dial. A red Bape Head has also been inserted against the dial’s backdrop. Available now at Cliffedge.
Among the last releases for this month from Bape include the following items. A gray camo jacket with goose down, a Bape pendant, denim and wallets. The denim includes three different washes while the wallet features three plaid styles. Available Saturday, December 22nd at Hong Kong’s Bape Store.

The latest Bapesta’s from Bape have released and are featured in colorways similar to boot favorites like Timberland and Red Wings. In some ways, its a reversal of roles between Nike and Bape, while Bape used to drop hideous patent colorways, Nike was pretty low key and conservative. It must absolutely be noted that if it wasn’t for the Bapesta we wouldn’t ever have been graced with the musical prowess of Soulja Boy. Available now at Cliffedge.
Bape Paper Version 7.0 has hit important Bape clientèle in possession of Bape Members cards. The magazine highlights upcoming special exclusive items for sale through Nigo’s Favorite Shop (NFS). These included modified Shark Hoodies, which among them feature an all white piece. The magazine is not for sale through any licensed retailers.

Here’s a list of items set to drop this Saturday at Hong Kong’s Bape Store. Three different hoodies will release including a knit version of the Tiger hoodie, Bape General and Bape Logo hoodie. The Bape Logo hoodie features a running catalog of old Bape Logo’s on the back. A Swarovski encrusted beanie will also release.

Bape Hong Kong will drop an extensive collection of products this Saturday. The releases include a Bapex, Bape’s own Rolex rip, a pink towel, fur lined parka and pillow. Hoodies and a metallic foil t-shirt round out these releases. Nothing too crazy to speak of visually. Available December 15th.

In some absurd and bizarre way, SpongeBob SquarePants become a powerful force embraced on fake sneakers and air brushed t-shirts. In a legitimate collaboration, Bape is set to release t-shirts featuring the lovable little Milo with SpongeBob SquarePants. This tee will be available on January 2nd, 2008.
It’s always occurred to me if people would actually wear designs themed around holidays year round. Will people be wearing these latest Bape tees in the middle of summer despite the obvious Christmas designs? Their well known Ape Head and Baby Milo were given the Rudolph the Red Nose treatment while striped ribbon ‘X’ on the back. Available now at Cliffedge.
Although often associated with flashier and more colorful elements, Bape has produced a series of simpe leather down jackets for their 2007 Fall/Winter Collection. The only discernible Bape elements are the small tag and the use of camo for the lining. Four different colors are available, black, beige, brown and dark brown are available now at Cliffedge.
The Bearbrick World Wide Tour 2007 started taking place this weekend on November 23rd at the Parco Factory in Japan. For this event, Medicom Toy has worked with several top streetwear brands including Bape, Stussy, Roar and Fragment Design for some collaboration event tees. The tees were only sold at the event so your only chance to get these is through a third party source.
