A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, is a Japanese streetwear brand founded in 1993 by NIGO. It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items. In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.

A Bathing Ape has created a legacy reinventing and reinterpreting various classics from the footwear industries’ most popular models. The Bapesta Squash is a low cut tennis model drawing influences from the adidas Stan Smith. This first run of four colorways are clean and simple with perforated leather seen around the logo. The Nickelodeon cartoon Spongebob Squarepants has recently teamed up with the Japanese brand, Bape, for a series of interesting collaboration products. Previously released were t-shirts, shoes and a sticker set. Now, just released in Japan is the Spongebob Squarepants x Bape Plush Toy. The plush toy features the Baby Milo character lying on Spongebob’s head. This cute figure should now be available at Bape stores in Japan if not already sold out.

New for 2008 from Bape is this A Bathing Ape nylon jacket. The quality and the attention to detail from Bape is unmatched if compared to other streetwear labels. This jacket features custom Bape buttons, Bape tags, and the logo “A Bathing Ape” stitched along the zipper area of the jacket. The jacket comes in navy or black and is available now at Cliffedge.
Here are some new items for February ‘08 from Soulja Boy’s favorite brand, Bape. This month, they have released a t-shirt to celebrate Valentines day that comes in black and white. There is also the February Milo tee. Some interesting accessories include a Spongebob Squarepants x A Bathing Ape sticker set and a Bapesta keychain that most sneakerheads might want to pick up. We really don’t know why Nike won’t make keychains from their shoes as most sneakerheads will want them. Anyway, these new Bape items will be available at Cliffedge.
Bape Hong Kong’s first arrival for February is upon us. The releases encompass products such as Roadstas, mesh caps and accessories including belts and bags. The leather Roadstas are available in four different colorways. Releasing on February 2nd at Bape Hong Kong.

Bape has once again teamed up with Medicom Toys on a series of Bearbricks set to release in March. With four colors in total, three of the Bearbricks will be released through regular Bape outlets while the fourth one (navy blue) will be limited to the member’s only Nigo’s Favorite Shop.

Here’s a look at the upcoming Bape items to release this Saturday, January 26th at Hong Kong’s Bape Store. Mostly understated pieces are at the forefront of this release including a denim shirt, long-sleeve t-shirt, M-65 and jacket. Other items include two camo hoodies and a Milo chain.

For January of 2008, A Bathing Ape or Bape has released a new collection of leather “STA” items including this backpack seen here. The black and brown colorway, leather straps and a leather “STA” logo of this backpack gives it a refined feeling which is unlike most Bape products. The bag functions as well as it looks with enough pockets and storage capacity for your daily needs. The bag is available now at Bape stores or at Cliff Edge.
Wonderwall is a Japanese interior design firm headed by Masamichi Katayama. Their most famous work includes all the Bape stores as well as other stores such as Uniqlo. The Shibuya Bape store opened for business a few months ago but if you haven’t been there or experience it for yourself, you can check out these pictures posted here. The Shibuya Bape store features a multi-color LED system for the stairs.

Many have said that Bape has been on a decline (on a street level) since it entered the American markets or when certain hip hop artists started wearing it. But we think that they will make a nice come back this year. We have already seen some better products from Bape this year including the release of the “Black Label”. Here are two new Gore-Tex jackets that have just been released in Japan. Both the jackets feature a subtle black “Bape” camo pattern which is great for those who don’t want to be a moving target for laughter. Both jackets are now available at Bape retail stores (if it didn’t already sell out) or at Cliff Edge.
Enough has been said regarding Bape’s recent collaboration with cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants. The t-shirts will release this weekend at Hong Kong’s Bape Store.
