It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items. In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.

If the previous releases of Bape Shark hoodies weren’t obnoxious enough, Bape has just released a pack of Shark hoodies with camo bodies. Unlike previous Shark releases which maintained mostly solid colors, these releases combine Bape’s bread and butter camo together to make one very beasty package. To top it off, each hoodie is regionally exclusive to Kagoshima, Harajuku, Nagoya and Matsuyama.

2007 was a significant year in street fashion because it was the year that streetwear connoisseurs in the States officially went back to wearing basic colors such as black. Fans of the Japanese label, A Bathing Ape, who are tired of all the colorful prints might rejoice when seeing this news. A Bathing Ape has released a new line called the “Black Label” which the clothes in this collection will be predominately – black. Of course, the Bape camos and logos which has made the brand popular will still be around but this time in a more subtle way. The “Black Label” has been released and is now available only at the Bapeclusive store in Aoyama, Japan.

Deep into winter, Bape will be releasing some new jackets as part of their 07/08 Fall/Winter Collection. Among the jackets are some leather jackets in either regular or hooded versions, complete with faux fur hood trims. Other releases will include knit and printed hoodies. New to Bape’s collection of footwear for the 2008 Spring/Summer Collection is the Bapesta 88. The high top 88 model includes a stitched leather upper with a safari-esque print. Bape’s shooting star logo can be seen along the back of the heel. Available now at Bape retailers.

New for 2008 are a collection of Bape Shark hoodies. Unlike the previous releases, this new collection is comprised entirely of leather. Still perfect for hiding yourself from the world due to your lack of popularity. Four colors include black, navy blue, purple and beige. Don’t expect these things to come cheap. Disney’s iconic Mickey Mouse underwent the camo treatment which resulted in this special plush toy. Unlike the modern version of Mickey Mouse, this Bape release is based off of the original version of Mickey Mouse rather than the roundish more friendly contemporary style. As part of the Bape Store Harajuku grand opening earlier this week, a series of apparel was released to commemorate the event. A t-shirt and hoodie each feature a re-appropriated Bape head with Harajuku on the back. Available now through Cliffedge.
Many say that since Bape stepped foot on American soil, it has lost its popularity amongst folks in Japan. But from the looks of these pictures, that might not be exactly true. The new Bape store opened today in Harajuku, Japan and over 1000 people lined up before 9AM to pick up goods including the offical Harajuku Bape tee as well as other items like the leather Shark Hoodie.

In what is already shaping up to be THE collaboration of the year, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants is teaming up with Bape on a series of products including a Bapesta. The Bapesta features patent Spongebob Yellow uppers includes Bob’s mug on the heel. Other items to show your fondness for a children’s cartoon include apparel and a plush doll. Be on the look out on your next trip to Asia as the 30 year old demographic will undoubtedly eat this up.
