A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, is a Japanese streetwear brand founded in 1993 by NIGO. It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items. In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.

With the opening date, April 25th, getting closer and closer, it looks like Bape Store LA is making some progress. Here we show you some teaser pictures of the upcoming store. It seems that the store will be similar in style to the many other Bape stores around the world including their signature Bape camo print in neon lights, the big “Go Ape” sign in the front, and a wall covered with the blue camouflage print. You can also see the conveyor belt around the curved glass wall that usually carries their shoes. This store will definitely be another great addition to the Melrose shopping scene. Releasing as part of Bape’s Black Label collection are two spin-offs of Bape’s popular Shark and Tiger hoodies. The black t-shirts feature tonal prints complete with a mock zip up motif down the middle. The Bapexclusive tees will release May 1st and available only to Bapexclusive members. Also releasing will be a pair of the Bapesta 88. They will retail for 17,640 Yen and will be available on April 27th.

On April 28th, Bape will be releasing a new A Bathing Ape G-Shock. This new watch will come in a navy blue color and will feature a the Bape STA Camo on the front dial. Retail for 21,000 Yen, these will be available at the Bapexclusive store as well as Bape stores worldwide.

The new Bape Harajuku store which opened up in January is another masterpiece from the design firm Wonderwall. On the Wonderwall site, they state: “For the Bape store, after discussions with Nigo, we decided to create a store that felt like a town within a building with an American diner flair. These all came on the heels of a huge Saturday event at the Hong Kong flagship store which included an appearance by Bape founder Nigo. Bape founder Nigo was on hand today as Bape Hong Kong was at the center of two huge celebrations. As previewed yesterday in a series of t-shirts, both the 15th anniversary of Bape as well as the 2nd anniversary of Bape Hong Kong were given tribute. Three different styles of tees were on hand including a special t-shirt available for signing by Nigo. This should mark the end of an extensive visit by Nigo and crew in Hong Kong as this trip has seen not only the celebration of various Bape anniversaries but the throwing of the successful World Wide Bape Heads 2008 Show as well.
