A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, is a Japanese streetwear brand founded in 1993 by NIGO. It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items. In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.

Back in February we saw the set of tees made by WTAPS and Bape. Here is a preview of the next set between these two street wear giants. A Bathing Ape’s 2008 Summer Book deserves every bit of the title book as it combines not only a fresh look into Bape’s upcoming collections but also editorial content often including interviews and features. The books often come complete with exclusive products to complete the package. The April 18th release of the A Bathing Ape 2008 Summer Collection book will also include a Bape Kids 2008 Spring/Summer 2008 Collection book as well. Check your local import book store for availability.
Bape Paper Version 8.0 has just been released. The latest issue celebrates the 15th anniversary of Bape as well as the announcement of an upcoming LA store, some upcoming releases, and exclusive items. The products showcased include a Gold Members exclusive dress shirt, that can be embroidered with initials; a few White Label tees, including the classic “Ape Shall Never Kill Ape” font design; and an upcoming collabo with renowned german luggage maker RIMOWA. Bape Paper Version 9.0 is also scheduled to be release in June.

Tatami by Birkenstock utilizes the famous supportive comfort and durability of the Birkenstock sandal while being able to explore new and stylish designs. Their newest collaboration is with the popular Japanese label, A Bathing Ape. Four different types of Bape Camo has been applied on the Tatami sandal. These will be released on April 27th at the Bapexclusive store as well as other Bape Stores worldwide.
Here’s a comprehensive look at the upcoming products set to hit Bape’s Hong Kong flagship store this Saturday. Aside from the norm of bottoms and tops, acceessories include cell phone cleaners/charms, packable bags, socks and hats. Releasing this Saturday, April 5th.

For all Bapeheads, the relaunch of Bape.com is definitely very good news. Their previous website was quite cumbersome to use as you had to download their very own Bape application in order to see the content. This made it quite difficult for Bapeheads to check what’s new on a daily basis. Content wise, everything is pretty much the same as before. You can still check out the latest news and products from the brand as well as take a look at some of Bape’s other ventures like the Bape Cafe, Bape Cuts, Bape Sounds and more.

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Bape, the Japanese brand has release a series of 15th Anniversary T-shirts. Four different tees will be offered from this collection with all of them utilizing the “15” for the frontside graphic. These limited edition tees will also come in a pretty cool Camo tin box which makes it feel like a collector’s item. The t-shirts are not out at Bape stores in Japan. Also available at Cliffedge.
Award winning gangster film The Godfather is set to be reinterpretated by Japanese brand A Bathing Ape. The first look only reveals the original The Godfather logo with Bape’s trademark camo design. The shirts will only be available through the members only Nigo’s Favorite Shop section starting April 1st.

A new pack of Medicom Toy Bape Bearbricks are set to arrive at Hong Kong’s Bape Store this weekend. Containing three different colors, the 400% Bearbricks each maintain that characteristic Bape camo that has become well known over the years. Other minor details include the dotted lines running throughout the body of the figure as well as the scarf detailing. Available Saturday, March 29th.

With a concert date set for April 10th, Bape has released pictures of products released in conjunction with their musical event, World Wide Bape Heads Show. The same characters revealed in the commercial produced by SiLLY THING can also be seen on the back of each shirt. No information has been revealed about the t-shirts release date or availability.
While there appears to be a notable change in direction for Bape, one thing seems to remain constant is their characteristic colorful patent Bapestas. Baby Milo emblazoned Bapestas are accompanied by apparel releases this weekend such as a reversible tee, khakis and hoodies. Available this Saturday at Bape Hong Kong.
