Developer KungFuDOOM has officially launched Poke Jam, a free browser-based basketball game combining five-on-five team management with fast-paced arcade gameplay.The fan-made project went live late October after just over a week of development, bringing 291 Pokémon to the virtual court.
Playable on keyboard, gamepad, or touchscreen without downloads, the game features a live roster spanning Generations 1 and 2 alongside select later-generation favorites. Each creature includes attributes for position, shooting, passing, defense, stamina, size, and evolution paths. On-court gameplay blends shot meters, dunks, alley-oops, and physical shoves with Pokémon type mechanics. Fire and Dragon types can ignite mid-game, Psychic, Fairy, and Steel types guarantee their next shot, and Ghost, Dark, and Poison types gain temporary immunity to steals and blocks.
In addition to Quick Play matchups against Kanto Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, the title features a deep Franchise mode. Players manage a 10-monster roster across a nine-week season complete with fatigue, multi-week injuries, free agency, and evolutions—allowing picks like Charmander, Magikarp, and Larvitar to grow into powerhouse starters. The non-commercial project also offers an automated Season Draft simulation, with an online multiplayer mode planned for a future update.
