Merrell brings Harris Tweed into its outdoor archive with a limited-edition collection spanning the Chameleon Redux SE, Jungle Moc, Moab 2 Slide SE and Relay Lace SE, with the latter offered in both men’s and women’s sizing.

Made from pure new wool in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, the fabric is fibre-dyed and spun on the islands before being handwoven by local craftspeople, with its layered coloration drawing inspiration from the region’s heathers, mosses, lochs and rugged Atlantic landscape. The entire range is unified in a single “Dark Walnut” colorway, allowing the construction and texture of the handwoven Scottish cloth to become the defining visual element. Deep brown leather and rubber components frame the richly textured Harris Tweed panels, whose multi-tonal weave gives the shoes a softer, more tactile character than Merrell’s usual technical textiles.

The Chameleon Redux SE x Harris Tweed takes the collection’s most technical approach, applying the woven textile to its highly segmented, dimensional upper alongside leather reinforcement. A toggle lacing system, molded TPU heel counter and substantial rubber tooling preserve its outdoor character, while a FloatMax foam midsole softens the ride; against the complex construction, the warm Dark Walnut tweed gives the otherwise futuristic silhouette a distinctly heritage-driven finish.

The Jungle Moc is considerably simpler, using Harris Tweed across its rounded slip-on profile with dark leather framing the upper. Its familiar comfort package remains intact through a removable EVA footbed, lightweight EVA midsole, heel-mounted Merrell Air Cushion and sticky rubber outsole, creating a contrast between the model’s utilitarian shape and the more traditional wool surface.

The Moab 2 Slide SE carries the textile into an open-backed format, pairing its broad tweed-covered upper with a chunky, dark Vibram TC5+ outsole and lightweight EVA midsole. The difference between the soft, visibly woven wool and the aggressive trail-derived tooling gives it perhaps the clearest meeting point between Harris Tweed’s tailoring heritage and Merrell’s outdoor DNA.

The Relay Lace SE offers the collection’s cleanest, most conventional sneaker profile, mixing full-grain leather with Harris Tweed panels, a traditional lace closure and streamlined rubber sole. Across all four models, Dark Walnut keeps the footwear visually cohesive while allowing differences in proportion and construction to determine each pair’s personality.
