Bleecker Street has officially debuted the first teaser trailer for The Third Parent, a psychological horror feature starring Rob Lowe and Crispin Glover. The project brings author Elias Witherow’s viral internet lore to the cinema following multiple schedule shifts.
Based on Witherow’s popular “creepypasta” stories, the narrative takes place against the backdrop of a Fourth of July holiday gathering. The plot centers on a deeply unsettling entity named Tommy Taffy (played by Glover), who disguises himself in human form to infiltrate a quiet suburban neighborhood. Once inside, the entity imposes authoritarian rule over an unsuspecting household, teasing that the family unit will soon be complete.
The production marks the feature directorial debut of David Michaels, who also wrote the screenplay following his background with the Macabre Theatre series and short films. Alongside Lowe and Glover, the cast features Roselyn Sánchez, Bethany Milner, Rafael de Belligny, and Gary Michael Walters. Lowe also serves as a producer alongside Walters, Spencer Young, Jonathan Halperyn, and Daniel Kresmery. Rather than revealing major plot twists, the preview relies on eerie drawings and atmospheric tension to introduce the titular presence.
The Third Parent will debut in theaters on January 22, 2027.
