Inside Hypebeast Afterhours: A Rakuten Fashion Week Celebration at Soho House Tokyo
Co-hosted by Sean Wotherspoon, the event brought together Tokyo’s fashion and cultural community for an unforgettable night.
As Tokyo Fashion Week drew toward its finale, Hypebeast took over the intimate, multi-level setting of Soho House Tokyo for “Hypebeast Afterhours Tokyo with Sean Wotherspoon,” a closing party held on Friday, September 4.
Throughout the evening, Scotch whisky brand JOHNNIE WALKER served special drinks featuring JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL, the pinnacle of the brand’s blended whisky portfolio. Friends and collaborators of co-host Sean Wotherspoon joined leading figures from Tokyo’s fashion and cultural scenes for a night celebrating community, culture and a new chapter in creativity.
The event took place at Soho House Tokyo, which opened its doors this past April. The soundtrack for the evening was curated by Tokyo-based music label tokyovitamin. Behind the decks, the label’s own Vick Okada was joined by YOSHIHAARAA, whose genre-defying sets move between minimal, delicate sounds and darker, more powerful beats, as well as multidisciplinary DJ COLDIE. Together, they kept the energy building with a seamless mix of heavy basslines, rare edits and propulsive club sounds.
The guest list included Takashi Kumagai, Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi, TAPPEI, Yamato Inoue, Proleta Re Art, Tomo Koizumi, Masako Noguchi & Takuma Sasaki, Rino Wauchi, Kikuno Kiki, Haruki Koyama, Kubo, Jeff Hamilton, and more. Crossing disciplines and generations, guests gathered over drinks, exchanged ideas and forged new connections throughout the night.
With the lingering energy of Fashion Week colliding with music on the dance floor, new conversations emerged in every corner of Hypebeast Afterhours Tokyo. More than a one-night celebration, the gathering marked the beginning of new connections — and the next wave of culture to emerge from Tokyo’s creative community.
