DC Studios and Warner Bros. have officially unveiled the debut trailer for Clayface ahead of San Diego Comic-Con. The upcoming feature marks a dark pivot into full-fledged body horror for James Gunn and Peter Safran‘s revamped superhero universe.
Directed by James Watkins (Speak No Evil) from a screenplay co-written by horror maestro Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, the film centers on Matt Hagen (Tom Rhys Harries), a rising Hollywood leading man originally from the streets of Gotham. After a ruthless crime boss leaves Hagen horribly disfigured, the actor pursues a cutting-edge scientific treatment to restore his appearance. However, the experimental procedure severely warps his physical identity and psychological stability, spiraling him down a tragic path of flesh-shifting revenge.
Produced alongside Matt Reeves and 6th & Idaho Productions, the ensemble cast also features Naomi Ackie as Dr. Caitlin Bates, alongside David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan. Lean, unsettling, and anchored in psychological horror rather than traditional superhero tropes, the project promises a grounded exploration of loss, ambition, and identity corruption.
Clayface officially arrives in North American theaters and IMAX on October 23, 2026, with international rollouts beginning October 21, 2026, via Warner Bros..
