PUMA and emerging Korean designer label JiyongKim are officially joining forces for their first-ever collaborative collection. Launching later this month, the partnership centers around a radical reinterpretation of PUMA’s original V-S1 football boot, filtering the sportswear giant’s heritage through the deconstructivist lens of the 2024 LVMH Prize semi-finalist.

The design process began with surplus fabrics long kept in JiyongKim’s atelier. Rather than concealing the stains and faded marks left by time, the collaboration embraces these physical histories, translating their irregularity into a considered design language. Through layered construction and the development of custom materials, each pair carries subtle variations in surface and pattern. The canvas upper features intentionally exposed stitching and raw finishes to emphasize texture, heavily informed by JiyongKim’s signature “Sun-Bleach” approach where fabrics naturally fade under sunlight.

Further structural details include a unique snap-button tongue that provides stability across the instep and a custom co-branded Lycra insole. Built to age gracefully and register the daily presence of the wearer over time, the collaborative V-S1 is presented in two distinct colorways — an ivory “CRAFT DW” and a stealthy black “CRAFT BLK.”

To celebrate the launch, PUMA and JiyongKim will host a special one-day pop-up on February 28 at the JiyongKim Flagship Store in Seoul. The atelier-inspired exhibition will trace the progression of the V-S1 archive model into its final collaborative form, displaying deconstructed structural components alongside JiyongKim’s upcoming Spring/Summer 2026 collection.
