Summary

  • Previews reveal that Brain Dead and adidas may be gearing up to release various models later this year, including the Barricade 13, Taekwondo, Climacool 2, and the new Brody King.
  • Bright green, yellow, and ultraviolet complement a base palette of black, silver, and beige components, while hairy suede contrasts with mesh and other synthetic textiles.
  • An official release date for the FW25 Brain Dead x adidas capsule has not been announced.

From the Stan Smith, to the Forest Hills, and the Bowling Shoe, Brain Dead and adidas have established a substantial repertoire of collaborative sneakers as it is. However, preview images of the collaborators’ FW25 capsule from a Paris showroom reveal that the Brain Dead x adidas assortment is about to get even bigger with the potential addition of models like Barricade 13, Taekwondo, Climacool 2, and the new Brody King.

While seemingly picking disparate models from various eras and categories, the images show the assortment tied together by the Brain Dead signatures like colorful accents, contrasting textures, metallic finishes, and retro/psychedelic graphics. Bright green, yellow, and ultraviolet complement a base palette of black, silver, and beige components, while hairy suede contrasts with mesh and other synthetic textiles.

The Barricade 13 is one of the more contemporary silhouettes, characterized by performance-geared design and a diagonal lacing system for an unconventional touch. Brain Dead reimagines the sneaker in a metallic silver mesh variant with yellow and tan accents, and an ultraviolet suede variant. adidas continues to push more directional archival silhouettes with the introduction of the Brain Dead Taekwondo, a laceless flat sole sneaker rendered in metallic silver and black leather variants.

Elsewhere, the all-new Brody King seems to reference the 80s-born Japan boxing boot, however, the Brody King boasts bold flame overlays evoking Mexican wrestling culture. Finally, the adidas Climacool 2 is reprised for the first time almost a decade with a new knit textile upper perforated with small slits. The Brain Dead Climacool 2 is offered in a green, yellow, and silver colorway, and a largely beige alternative. An air cushion on the Climacool tongue boasts a distorted Brain Dead wordmark, while the tongue of the Taekwondo opts for another emblem reading “Brain Dead Systems” in corporate style.

As of the time of writing, an official release date for the FW25 Brain Dead x adidas capsule has not been announced. Stay tuned to Hypebeast for updates on the forthcoming release.
