'The Lord of the Rings' Trilogy Is Returning To Theaters This June
All three films will be shown in its extended editions.
Peter Jackson‘s The Lord of the Rings trilogy is set to return to theaters this June.
The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King will be back on the big screen on June 8, June 9 and June 10, respectively, thanks to Fathom Events. Fans will also be delighted to hear that all three films will be played in its extended versions, with ComicBook noting that the first film’s run time is prolonged to 228 minutes, while the second and third clock in at 235 minutes and 263 minutes each.
The trilogy began in 2001 and was followed by releases in 2002 and 2003, with The Return of the King taking home all of the 11 Academy Awards it was nominated for — including Best Picture and Best Director. In 2021, The Fellowship of the Ring was selected by the Library of Congress to be preserved in the United States National Film Registry.
