Acne Studios Launches 'Acne Paper' Book To Commemorate Its Fashion-Focused Magazine
The magazine will return in a renovated form later this year.
Acne Studios has launched the Acne Paper book, an extra-large flashback binding to the brand’s non-conformist magazine, which ran from 2005 to 2014.
Reinstated in the form of a 560-page anthology, the book was printed in the same dimensions as the original magazine and features archival material from the independent title in a chronological fashion. Conceptualized by Acne Studios founder and creative director Jonny Johansson and edited by Thomas Persson, each page honors the magazine’s stimulating, journalistic explorations of themes ranging from escapism to eroticism.

Among the pages, archival fashion editorials brought to life by stylists Marie Chaix and Mattias Karlsson contrast present-day portraits shot by photographer Christopher Smith from cover to cover. Meanwhile, Persson incorporated a slew of long-form and abridged notes from industry-leading contributors, including Irving Penn, Snowdon, Bill Cunningham, Alex Katz, Richard Prince, Louise Wilson, Viviane Sassen, Eric Boman, Sarah Moon, David Bailey, Kim Jones and more.
“Acne Paper. I would not have dared starting it had I known how it would turn out, how many fantastic people and wonderful creative encounters I would experience,” said Johansson in an Instagram post. “And had I known how much I would miss it, I would never have stopped.”
Luckily, the label confirmed that Acne Paper will officially return to print this fall, with Persson resuming his role as editor. An official release date has yet to be announced.
The Acne Paper book is available to purchase on the brand’s website for $110 USD.
