Interdisciplinary artist Brian Kenny is known for his collage and patchwork style, with the artist often slicing and dicing vintage clothing to create new multi-media works. Now, Onitsuka Tiger has enlisted the American artist to translate his style into a new collection of apparel, shoes and accessories for fall.

The collaboration launched this past week and includes a range of activewear pieces like basketball-style shorts and jerseys, as well as colorful denim pieces. The standout item in the collection is the bold, patchwork Onitsuka D-Trainer Boro, with slashes of blue, yellow and red atop a white, chunky sole.

Kenny’s work spans a variety of mediums, such as textile, video and performance work. The New York City-based artist’s pieces frequently reflect themes around queer identity, sex, gender and politics.

This isn’t the first colorful collaboration from the Japanese brand. This summer, Onitsuka Tiger also released a collection with Valentino, including three neon running sneakers — and toned-down gray pair, for good measure.

To inaugurate the launch of the collaboration, Kenny painted a mural outside of Onitsuka Tiger’s New York City store on Thursday, September 10. The mural will be on view at the Soho store through the end of the month.

Shop the Brian Kenny x Onitsuka Tiger Fall/Winter 2020 collection at Onitsuka’s online store, with prices ranging from $80 to $270 USD. For more new collabs, check out Converse’s partnership with N.HOOLYWOOD on a new Chuck Taylor Ni Hi.
