Here Are the First Impressions of the Apple Card
Unboxing the titanium payment option.
With the Apple Card beginning to roll out globally, we now have an unboxing and first impression for the payment option courtesy of YouTuber Marques Brownlee.
Coming in a minimalist flip envelope, the card is held in a colorful inner slot contrasting its clean white design. As previously revealed, the Apple Card is constructed of rigid solid titanium embedded with a chip and laser-etched with the owner’s name and an Apple logo. Doing away with printed expiry dates and account numbers, the traditional identifying elements can be found on the digital version of the card. The back of the card features a magstripe accompanied by the logos of banking partners Mastercard and Goldman Sachs.
To activate the card, users simply hold their iPhone up to the bottom of the colorful envelope which will then pair the card to the phone. Once connected the Wallet App on the phone can be used to calculate interest, monitor spending with an informative color system and track the cashback collected. The security element of the card is based on Face ID, so lost or stolen cards cannot be simply used.
Revealing his first impressions for the Apple Card, Brownlee notes his interest in seeing how the white coating on the card will weather over time. The YouTube figure also highlighted the Apple Cash cashback which becomes available the day after purchases are made. Finally, Brownlee warns that the payment option adds to the ecosystem Apple has already created to keep customers using its products.
