Sotheby's Is Auctioning off an 18-Karat Gold 1/25 Scale Ford GT Model

A precious model belonging to a descendant of Henry Ford has just landed on the Sotheby’s auction page. The two-tone 18-karat-gold 1/25-scale model commemorates one of Ford’s most iconic race cars, along with the American automobile manufacturer’s lustrous history.
The model features opening doors, hood, rear-engine latch, and has functioning wheels that are wrapped in rubber model tires. A historic Easter egg can be found on the license plate, where it reads “Michigan Ford 1.” The model sits at approximately 7.25 x 3.25 x 1.5 inches in size and weighs over 3 pounds.
